Afro’s performance of Samini’s hit song ‘Linda’ last Sunday on Gangstarz could not take it to the next stage of the competition as the group was shown the exit after a night of pulsating renditions.
The trio’s performance did not only fall short of public votes as TV3 portrayed but also incurred the wrath of the judges who descended on them, indicating that they could not handle the song as expected and their rendition did not sound blissful as compared to the previous weeks’ when they did some local songs.
At a point the guys were only making noise but that was not the only unfortunate act of the night as LS3 also could not bring much pleasure.
The group’s costuming, however, was the talk of the night. Just last week the ladies had been tipped by the judges to be among the final four due to their amazing act that night. Even so their rendition of Jordin Sparks’ “Tattoo” last Sunday raised some concerns; if indeed they can escape the last eviction next week.
The judges believed that on the whole the Onetouch-sponsored show has gradually refined the contestants. And Sunday’s show was a testimony of that. G- Girls put up an unsurpassed show with Brandy’s ‘Have You Ever’. So did Pipers when they started the night with the song “I swear”.
Da soul gave Pipers a hot chase with a wonderful rendition of Boyz 2men’s “Colour of Love”. Whether it was good enough to attract more votes for the group to escape the last eviction is another thing. Blaze went local with the performance of Richie’s “Frema”, thrilling the audience with their silky voices.
But BB downplayed their performance, saying they could have done better since he BB, after the act, could remember the original singer of the song and not Blaze. The show comes off this Sunday at 8:00 pm with more exciting moments.
