GMA: Wutah Gets Five Nominations

FOLLOWING THEIR achievements in the Ghanaian music industry, sensational hiplife and reggae duo Wutah has been tipped to win the Record of the year, Album of the Year, Song Writer of the Year, Artiste of the Year and Best Male Vocal Performance of the Year awards at the 11th MTN Ghana Music Awards slated for Saturday April 10, 2010.

After the release of their maiden album ‘Anamontuo’ in 2004 with hits like Big Dreams and Goosy Gander among others, Wutah was nominated in eleven categories in the 2005 Ghana Music Awards.

Wutah’s second album, ‘Burning Desire’, produced by Kofi Okyere Darko for the Blaq Kapricon music label, became an instant hit.

The album featured music giants Kwabena Kwabena, Tinny, K-Lo, Paulina Oduro and Kwaisey Pee.

The album has interesting songs like ‘Kotosa’, which is equipped with danceable beats and good choruses. ‘Awuraama’, which featured Paulina Oduro, has a mid-tempo catchy beat.

Other interesting songs on the album include ‘Odo’, True Love, ‘Jah Will Be There’, Last Days, ‘Odo Nkomo’, ‘Awurade Aseda’, and Carpenter among others.

The duo, Daniel Morris (Risky) and Frank Osei (Papa Virus or PV), came into the limelight when they placed second to Praye during the international Nescafe Africa Revelation music competition in Accra.

Their melodious style of singing proves that hiplife music goes beyond the boundaries of just rapping to the rhythm of a song.

Their tune ‘Big Dreams’ was named Reggae Song of the Year at the 2006 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.
