Pastor Love Hammond, ex-hubby of celebrated female gospel musician Obaapa Christy and songwriter has questioned the leaders of GHAMRO why he has not received royalties for writing songs for Ghanaian musicians.

The man of God during a phone-in segment on Accra FM’s Gospel 360 entertainment show called into the show to express his gross disappointment in leaders of the organisation for not receiving a penny from them for the many songs he has written.

When Andy Favoured, host of the show asked the musicians he has written songs for, Pastor Love replied that “Maame Joyce of “Yesu Woto me abuoden” fame, late Osei Bonsu, my ex-wife Christy, highlife songs for Kofi Nti and many others”.

“I’ve heard GHAMRO gives royalties to songwriters in this country but I’ve never had my share of it but I have written a lot of songs in this country. I want to know from them if they have all names of songwriters in the country they distribute the money to since I’ve not received a penny from them? Pastor Love questioned

Second Vice Chairman of GHAMRO, Daiana Hopson who was in the studio replying the man of God said “musicians you wrote the songs for should have mentioned you as a songwriter of the songs when registering it at GHAMRO.

You need to register all your works with GHAMRO so that you will also get royalties from the song but if you sold it to them, then you don’t own it anymore”.
