President of Policy think-tank, IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe, has criticized the seeming lack of quality lyrics in songs produced currently in the country.

The content of songs produced by the current generation of musicians have been at the centre of many discussions in the country with some older musicians describing them as 'Borla'.

The Policy advisor who did not seem to understand why Ghanaians are jamming to Article Wan's hit song, 'Solo' questioned the meaning of the words he used in the song saying "What is "nngengne"? and "solo"? Why gyrate like grasshoppers to lyrics you don't understand?".

Franklin attributed the use of these words which has no meaning by an artiste and some other artiste to the fact that artiste are lyrically bankrupt unlike formerly when music was the food for the would.

" Don't you think some of our hiplife artiste are just poor when it comes to lyrics?"

The IMANI boss noted that currently, musicians are saved from the shame because they ride on good beats to produce songs but their lyrical content is empty.

" All that helps them is the 'kpanlogo' beats else stripped off, the lyrics are empty."
