Food fight features testicles on the menu

Accra - A lover's spat turned ugly in Ghana's Ashanti region, when a 45-year-old man was castrated by his lover during a fight over food, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) reported on Thursday.

GNA said Kwaku Gyem was taken to a hospital for surgery to have his testicles reinserted into the scrotum after his girlfriend Abena Ataa cut them on Sunday night.

It quoted an eyewitness as saying that the two had an argument over food, which resulted in a fight.

The eyewitness said when he entered the room to separate the pair he found the man bleeding profusely with his testicles hanging loosely.

The victim was rushed to a hospital where emergency surgery was carried out. A medical report indicated that the testicles of the victim, who has been discharged from hospital, probably had been removed with a sharp object.

Abena Ataa said she was assaulted by Gyem and reported him to the police.
