First distribution to AMWEF beneficiaries

On Friday 17th January 2014, the first batch out of about sixty three Ageing musicians registered nationwide with AMWEF will meet at the Musicians Union Head office in Accra as part of the first distribution meeting to receive amount based on what the Ageing Musicians Welfare fund committee has been able to raise since its inauguration in August Last year.

This is being done in fulfillment of the purpose for the establishment of the fund. The fund which was launched as part of the AJUMAPA vision of the President of the Union, Bice Osei Kuffour is raise funds to support the many ageing and elderly musicians who are currently going through various degrees of emotional and financial challenges.

The first distribution will cover beneficiaries from Greater Accra, Volta, Eastern, Western and Central regions. The Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Brong Ahafo and Ashanti regions will receive their donations in the following week.

The upcoming distribution is in line with the policy objective of the fund to make such periodic financial distributions to support the target beneficiaries.

By this distribution, we would like to use it also as an opportunity to invite corporate, bodies, individuals, philanthropist, donors, etc, to consider the plight of our ageing musicians who have become victims of society due the many challenges the current music industry is going through which has bereft them of their career investments.

Recognizing that they are also part of the Aged in our society who will appreciate our generosity towards them.

The Ageing Musicians Welfare fund supports qualified musicians above sixty years and disabled musicians in times of need.
