Fire destroys a drinking spot

Accra, April 17, GNA - A Fire outbreak destroyed property worth several thousands of cedis at the Italian Drinking Bar on the Ritz-Agbogba road.

The items destroyed include alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, a refrigerator, mobile phones, money, and other personal belongings of the Madam Rebecca Akonnoki the owner of the Bar.

Speaking to GNA, Madam Rebecca Akonnoki who was sobbing said she was boiling some herbs on a gas stove and after some time she decided to put off the gas stove.

She realised that the operating mechanism on the gas stove failed to lower the fire of the gas cylinder, she got frightened and run out of the wooden kiosk and shouted for help and neighbours came to assist in putting out the fire.

At that junction, someone called the Madina Fire Service and there was no response and the fellow had to call Accra Fire Control Room.

Within thirty minutes the Fire Tender from the University of Ghana responded swiftly and it was led by Station Officer Israel Osei-Baidoo came to the rescue of the situation. Meanwhile the fire had destroyed all the property within the wooden ki= osk.
