Female convict strips naked in court

Drobo (B/A) Jan. 29 GNA - Comfort Agyeiwaa, a 20 year-old hairdressing apprentice stunned the audience at a magistrate court at Drobo in Jaman South District of Brong Ahafo when she stripped herself naked after she was sentenced to a three months imprisonment for offensive conduct and threat of death.

Narrating the incident to Ghana News Agency, Chief Inspector S.O. Asamoah, prosecutor, said Agyeiwaa's nudity apparently to feign insanity however, failed to compel the Presiding magistrate, Mr. Samuel Kofi Solomon to alter the court's decision.

He said the accused was arrested on September 28, last year following a complaint lodged against her by her sister for offensive conduct and threat of death.

The accused was put before court, which granted her bail in the sum of two million cedis with one surety to re-appear on October 7, last year.

Agyeiwaa failed to turn up in court that day and the court issued a bench warrant for her arrest.

She was later that month arrested but escaped from police custody the same day and went into hiding.

Police grabbed her four days later and was put before the magistrate court.

In her plea, Agyeiwaa stated that her sister (complainant) had advised her to run away.
