The family of the late Nii Odoi Mensah has reacted to a picture of some actors spotted having a binge at the funeral of the former president of Ghana Actors Guild, Nii Odoi Mensah.

Ace veteran actors, Fred Amugi, Kofi Adjorlolo among others, who were spotted in the picture sitting around a table full of alcoholic drinks have come under tumultuous criticism on social media, asking why they couldn’t help the late actor who struggled to raise funds for his kidney treatment until he finally died in China, but could get money to quaff away their sorrows at his funeral.

Speaking to Reagan Mends of www.razzonline.com, the junior brother of the late veteran actor, Ezekiel Mensah, who spoke on behalf of the family, condemned the circulated picture and the uproar against the actors on social media.

According to Ezekiel, who is also the technical manager of Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing company(GCMC), the actors helped his late brother to undergo the kidney treatment in China and also assisted the family vehemently to give Nii Odoi a befitting burial.

He said further that, if Nii Odoi Mensah is dead, it doesn’t stop the actors from quaffing away their sorrows at his funeral.

“Seriously, it’s not true as reported that the actors couldn’t help my late brother but could get money to buy drinks and make merry at his funeral. No! they did extremely well for my late brother to undergo the kidney treatment in China and the family is happy they again ensured he had a befitting burial.

"The picture which was circulated on social media is very appalling. We are condemning it because if my brother is dead, does it mean the actors shouldn’t have fun or continue with their lives? It's a shame. I just don’t know the intention of the person who took the picture because it may be that someone even sponsored the drinks. Honestly, the family is not enthused with the manner the actors have been chastised," Ezekiel noted passionately.

The Arthurs’ sitcom Television actor, Nii Odoi Mensah passed away on Tuesday, April 12, in China, where he had gone for a transplant after several years of battling kidney disease.
