Fast-rising Ghanaian Afrobeat singer Kay Twist, born Badu Mensah Kwadwo also is known as Afrobeat Prince is appealing to the institutions responsible for the growth of Ghana music, to focus more on organizing music workshops for the successes of music workers.

According to him, when music workshops are organized frequently, new talents will understand the Music Industry and the framework of the business, know the roles of the industry professionals, what their jobs entail when it’s important to involve them and specific deals that they will want to be aware of.

In an interview with him, he said, “ If I am agitating for anything for the music industry, it would be on having workshops to help musicians have a clear understanding of how the music business works, and artist revenue streams(such as Sync Licensing, Public Performance (PRO) Royalties, Digital Sales etc.) And also how music lovers should consume music in order for musicians to get paid for their creative works.”

He added that, Music workshops can be a greater tool for artists to perfect their craft, know how to sell their craft and also know who to go-to for the needed help to promote their craft. This will help their investors to invest in their music without fear or uncertainty.

The young artist who aspire to have collaborations with Samini, Mugeez, Jah Cure, Popcaan, Stonebwoy, etc “because I feel I'm on the same journey with them, he said. “Describing the music I do, I'm more into The Afrobeat, R&b-Pop, Reggae, and Dancehall. Growing up listening to Shaggy, Shabba Rankz influenced me into Dancehall, Listening to the Samini, Bob Marleys, Jah Cure, Buju Banton, Sizzla, and UB40 influenced me on the reggae side and also I chose those genres because of their style and Instrumental selections”

“I look up to many famous musicians but the one particular artist I really admire so much is Jay Z because of how he's business-minded with his music just like Mr. Eazi helping out emerging artists through Empawa”, he said.
