Empress Gifty breaks down in tears as she recounts her experience with ex-husband

Goosebumps spread like a virus on the Internet when Gifty Osei tackled a very sensitive yet emotional subject – her divorce.

The “Aseda” hitmaker and Prophet Prince Elisha Osei’s envious marriage hit the rock in 2012 after 10 years of marriage,

Many reports cited infidelity on the part of Gifty as the cause of the divorce but she has a different angle.

“Nobody has an idea of what I’ve endured in life,” she told Halifax on Okay FM on Wednesday, January 15. “The people around me let me down.”

She said her divorce process was the hardest time she faced in life. She said she was willing to sacrifice her music career to make her marriage work out but it didn’t work.

“Between 2014 and 2015, I decided to let go of my music career just to make somebody happy. But what I realised was that, apart from God, you cannot please anybody on their earth.”

Speaking about her ordeal, Gifty, who is now married to politician Hopeson Adorye, revealed that she could lock herself up in her room and cry for hours. Plus, she wasn’t willing to step out because of gossips.

“I used to change my pillow every three days. I used to lock myself in my room, weep and refuse to go out because I couldn’t stand the gossips.”

She added that her trusted friends and even spiritual father neglected her during her divorce process.

“My trusted friends, pastors and all the people I trusted neglected me when I was going through my divorce process.”
