Efya reveals backstory to Getaway song

Here’s singer Efya disclosing to Afropop Culture TV how her popular single Getaway came about.

The song, in which she invites a lover on a road trip to relax, is one of many which solidified her stature as one of Ghana’s favorite singers.



Born Jane Efya Awindor to veteran broadcaster Nana Adjoa Awindor of Greetings from Abroad fame, Efya has maintained her grip on the accolade of one of Ghana’s premier female vocalists since bursting unto the scene as one half of duo Irene and Jane in 2008, being awarded GMA Best Female Vocal Performance of the Year an unprecedented four times in a row. Her long-awaited debut album Jenesis, which was launched April 16.
