Edem rules out reunion with Confidence

Hip hop/ Reggae artiste Anthony Edem Agbeviadey popularly known as Edem says the “reunion” with Confidence Haugen on the night of the VGMA was nothing difficult to go through since it was just an interview he was engaged in.

The Ghana Music Awards which came off over the weekend will definitely go down in history as one that came with it interesting surprises.

The most notable among the red carpet moments was the reunion of rapper Edem, formally Ayigbe Edem, and the sexy Confidence Haugen.

The two made the headlines in 2010 when their love relationship hit the rocks followed by allegations that Edem had stolen Confidence's mobile phone.

An allegation Edem refuted.

The two met publicly again after the controversy on the night of the awards.

A clearly 'tensed' Confidence had to put the past behind her to interview Edem in the midst of the loud cheers from an audience who were clearly enjoying the night's biggest surprise.

The two former 'lovebirds' showed no sign of enmity as they wore bright 'smiles' for the cameras.

Edem, who spoke to Xfm 95.1 shortly after that said he was only going through one of the processes at the ceremony.

‘If I am a Christian and the devil wanted to interview me, or let me rather say if I am a pagan and Christ wanted to interview me, I would still do it because am still doing my work, that was what happened’.

Pressed forward on whether the two enjoy a cordial relationship in private, Edem was rather derisive, saying, “I cannot say it in public because if I do, it will no more be private”.

The ‘Ghetto Arise’ artiste opined that the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) has been the best so far, since more details have been added to the organization.

‘For me the show has been the best so far, apart from some technical hitches…It was all good, those situations like that makes it a human institute mistake, and it can be developed’.

Touching on the night performances, which he described as being on top, Edem said, ‘anybody who understands Hip Hop, and understands life band, and understands attitude will realize that he (Double HP) is original, he did dance moves which you won’t see anywhere but only South Africa as a hip Hop artiste’.

On whether or not he felt disappointed having missed out on being adjudged the reggae artist of the year and Afro pop song of the year, Edem stated that on the contrary, he already is a winner.

‘I have never been disappointed in anything that has to do with people setting standards, the only time I get disappointed is when I set a standard for myself and I don’t meet it’, he had said.

He made it clear that everybody on the same category with him stood the chance of winning the award.

‘He(Blakk Rasta) called me yesterday and said he dedicated the award to Stone Bwuoy and felt I was worried, but I told him I was not since the purpose of doing that song was to give hope to the needy in Volta, and that has been achieved. That in itself is an award for me’.

The fact that it is (Ghetto Arise) being aired on BET, Trace TV (France), he said makes him feel the standard he set for himself with the song has been achieved.

He revealed that his new reggae song which will be released on Monday, April 23, will be premiered by Blakk Rasta.
