He was humble until the 10th of April 2010 when he was announced as the ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the Ghana Music Awards. Prior to that, he has been parading himself on the streets as Ghana’s fastest rapper.

I am sure you have gotten the clue. If not, let me give you more clues. On that night, he won the ‘Discovery of the Year’ award, making him the first artiste with first album to win the ultimate ‘Artiste of the Year’. Aside those awards, he won the following awards, ‘Hip hop/hiplife Artist of the Year’, ‘Best Rapper of the year’ and ‘Album of the Year’.

Yes his name is Sarkodie. This write-up will explain why musicians in Ghana will continue to die as paupers. They don’t LEARN. Some human beings forget so soon where they come from, especially after managing to attain a little success in their art.

As part of the program to celebrate Vodafone’s first anniversary in Ghana, a show dubbed ‘020 LIVE CONCERT’ has been put together. There was a press conference to introduce the artistes billed to perform on the night and interact with the media.

The microphone went around and the artistes lined up endorsed the event and the Vodafone foundation which will be launched later on. The artistes includes Ruff n Smooth, Richie, Eazzy, P Square, Sarkodie, Ikechukwu and 4X4

Sarkodie said nothing better than to laud and shower praises on himself saying “I am listened to even more than the president”. WHO CARES? A quick question was thrown to him as to why he didn’t say anything concerning the event but talking about the fact that he is listened to than the president.

The reply to that question confirms that Sarkodie didn’t read the Vodafone contract before signing it or probably another person signed it for him. He said “Well I don’t know what’s going on here, I wasn’t briefed”.

Last week at an event to give out the various cash prizes to the recent Ghana Music Award Winning musicians, Sarkodie disgraced himself with some usless attitude. People thought he will calm down on his pomposity but Sarkodie was once again full of himself with his “guy guy attitude” today at the Vodafone Press Conference. He descended to the gutters by taking about miscommunication between himself and the organizers.

Sarkodie talked about the fact that he’s done enough and a lot of ‘free shows’ when nobody has asked him if the show is for free or not. I think he has forgot that, as a new artiste on your way to the top, you will have to do free shows. This ‘MISCOMMUNICATION’ vibe made the Head of Strategy and Brands of Vodafone Ghana, Uche Ofodille squeeze her face in shock.

He digressed and started blabbing that, he only took ‘coins’ from Vodafone before accepting to perform on the show because they can’t pay him the actual amount he is worth. He said “I only took coins from Vodafone”.

The conference room went mute amidst Sarkodie’s shocking revelations then there came a voice from Vodafone “But we still paying you”. This drew laughter from the people present.

Honestly, what I gathered from Sarkodie’s utterances is that, it didn’t go well with the organizers and even before the Press Conference started, they regret to have signed on Vodafone and wish to redraw him.
