District Assembly begins quiz programme

Ayomso (B/A) March 16 (Hans) GNA - The Asunafo District Office of Education in conjunction with the District Assembly and a citizen, Mr Robert Sarfo Mensah, has begun a series of quiz competitions among Junior Secondary Schools in the District to help improve the academic performance of the students.

Schools that would qualify from the district's six educational circuits would meet in an inter-district final.

Opening the first contest for the Ayomso Circuit at Ayomso, Mr Mensah noted that there was the need for a complete change in attitude towards academic work among basic schools in the district.

For the past three years the district has been among the worst performing ones in the region, a situation that demands that stakeholders redouble efforts to help reverse, he said.

Ayomso Local Authority Junior Secondary School "A" won the first contest with 37 points while one of the most deprived schools in the district, Anwianwia Methodist Junior Secondary School came second with 27 points.

Miss Ihinata Konda of Anwianwia school held the audience spellbound with her spectacular mathematical capability and was promised a special award by the organizers.
