3. Gwollu Slave Defence Wall
The Gwollu Defence Wall, built in the 19th century near the Burkina Faso–Mali border, served as protection against slave raiders.
Today, the 13-foot-tall wall stands as both a tourist attraction and a symbol of resilience. A visit offers a fascinating peek into Ghana’s rich history.
4. Nakore Ancient Mosque
Nestled in the village of Nakore, this small yet ancient mosque was built in the Sudanese architectural style.
According to historians, it dates back to the early 17th century, when Mande warriors followed the old Songhai trade routes south into what is now northern Ghana.
