Dear GhanaWeb,
I’m a 24-year-old woman and I’m the 2nd born of my parents. I lost my mother in a tragic accident three years ago.
My dad had a child with another woman years ago and my mother was aware of it before she died. My dad then decided to marry that particular woman.
I now live with my dad, his new wife and the daughter. The woman doesn’t like me and I try as much as I can to avoid her.
My dad owns a prestigious company, which my elder sister used to run. She handed it over to me when she got married and relocated abroad.
Over two years, I’ve been the one handling everything and my dad was always proud of me.
Three months ago, my dad fell ill. He couldn’t move or do anything on his own.
Last month, he gave up on himself and begged me to take good care of his properties and company.
Ever since my dad died, this woman has been maltreating me. I never think about them because I was busily running the company.
I woke up one morning, getting ready for work and my stepmother said I should start clearing my desk because she wants my stepsister to take over dad’s company. I didn’t say anything and I left, thinking she was just kidding.
Last three days, my stepsister came around and started ordering the staff around. She introduced herself as the new CEO and asked me to either work under her or clear my desk. I couldn’t take it so I rushed home to talk to my dad’s lawyer.
I don’t know what my stepmother discussed with the lawyer because he didn’t want to involve himself.
How can I just fold my arms and watch them reap where they didn’t sow? I’ve worked so hard in this company for it to be taken from me just like that.
At this point, I’m not thinking straight. I’m confused on what to do and who to talk to. What should I do?
FG/EB
