UK- based International act, Minister Sonnie Badu has described the late urban contemporary gospel musician as dying empty.

He noted that he was saddened when he received a text about the singer’s demise.

“My first thought was Joe Mettle and Denzel, because they are so close to him. This is a sudden death and the most painful death is when it is sudden”, he added.

In an interview on Starr FM, Sonnie paid tribute to the late singer, saying he has done it all and given off his best. He added that Danny Nettey impacted several musicians like Nii Okai, Joe Mettle, Denzel, KODA, whom Africa celebrates.

In his tribute, Sonnie recounted Danny Nettey as a man who is bubbly with great energy and one who likes to encourage all.

Sonnie Badu in his tribute noted that “Life is not about how long one lives but it is about the impact one makes in the world. Danny died empty. He emptied himself and even though he did not have a biological child, he raised spiritual sons who are doing well”, he further explained.

Sonnie Badu suggested that the gospel fraternity should have a concert to celebrate Danny Nettey. He added that it was good Danny Nettey was honoured before his demise.

Sonnie further urged all to thank God for the life of Danny Nettey, adding that God had a hand in Danny’s death, hence we should celebrate his life rather than mourn. He further appealed to the gospel fraternity to learn to honour musicians before their demise.

Danny Nettey died on Friday, July 15 at dawn after being found unconscious around 2:00 am in his room.

Danny Nettey died with three albums to his credit – “Positive Change”, “This Time” and “I believe”.
