Daddy Lumba Funeral Dispute: Accra High Court adjourns injunction case

Court adjourns Daddy Lumba celebration of life case to March 23, 2026 Court adjourns Daddy Lumba celebration of life case to March 23, 2026

The Accra High Court has postponed proceedings in a case involving Daddy Lumba’s family head Kofi Owusu, over an injunction he filed to halt a planned celebration of life event for the late Highlife legend.

On March 5, 2026, lawyers representing Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, members of Daddy Lumba’s immediate family, as well as Papa Shee and their respective legal teams appeared before the court for a hearing on the matter.

The presiding judge adjourned the case to Monday, March 23, 2026, to allow the court to hear arguments from both sides.

Following the hearing, a lawyer representing Daddy Lumba’s immediate family addressed the media and provided further insight into the injunction filed by Abusuapanin Tupac against the proposed celebration of life.

According to the lawyer, the idea of organising a celebration of life for the late musician was not a new development that should warrant legal action from the family head.

He explained that several events in honour of Daddy Lumba had already been organised by people outside the family, including gatherings held in the United Kingdom.

“The celebration of life for Daddy Lumba has seen even people who are not family members organising their own events in UK. However, the event that Lumba’s sister and wife intend to organise has been met with an injunction filed by the Abusuapanyin. The court has therefore adjourned the case to March 23, 2026, to hear both parties,” the lawyer said.

On February 2, 2026, veteran Hiplife artiste turned evangelist Papa Shee disclosed plans for another funeral ceremony to honour Daddy Lumba.

He announced that the event, titled “The Celebration of the Life of Daddy Lumba,” was scheduled to take place in Accra on March 28 and March 29, 2026.

Papa Shee indicated that the event would involve members of Daddy Lumba’s immediate family who were unhappy with how the earlier funeral was handled by Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu.

Among those expected to be present are the musician’s sister, Ernestina Fosu; his first wife, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh; Yaw Opoku, popularly known as Wofa Yaw Opoku; and other individuals aligned with the group referred to as the Team Legal Wives faction.
