DJ Awana at Hitz FM; new host for Daybreak Hitz

Hitz 103.7 FM the Entertainment Powerhouse of Ghana Radio is keen to provide quality entertainment for radio listeners through the station’s programming with some thought provoking ideas.

Listeners of the station will notice that lately the station has been throwing in some innovative programming by discussing some controversial issues especially on the Daybreak Hitz show.

Last week the issue of homosexuality in our society was discussed with two homosexuals sharing their experiences. This was followed by a discussion with a pastor on the implications and morality of homosexuality in our society.

Then on Monday, two prostitutes were in the studio defending a call on the authorities to license the sex workers in the country so that in their words, “they can also contribute their quota to national development by paying taxes.”

This position caused most of the callers on the show to register their protest at the calls for the licensing of sex workers in the country. Most callers alluded to the immoral nature of the profession.

However other callers, drawing on the examples of countries like Netherlands and Thailand indicated that licensing the sex workers will enable the authorities to monitor their activities and ensure that they are screened and given the necessary training to prevent the spread of STDs.

The Programmes Director of Hitz 103.7 FM, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey noted that the station intends to highlight the topical social issues affecting our society to generate debate to help shape our national outlook on those issues while providing quality entertainment in the process.

Meanwhile, Lexis Bill, a sociology graduate of KNUST also a former Kumasi-based presenter has replaced Okyeame Quophi as host of Daybreak Hitz.

In a related development, Samuel Tei Mensah Nartey aka DJ Awana has joined Hitz 103.7 FM. According to Awana, his decision to join Hitz FM is due to his desire to contribute to the station’s drive to provide top-notch entertainment to radio listeners in Ghana.
