Four days into her bid to set a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, Ghanaian chef Nhyiraba Zulaiha has been spotted pushing through visible exhaustion during her 192-hour cookathon.

A video circulating on social media showed the tired-looking chef seated in a swivel chair as she continued cooking, with an assistant placing a wet towel over her head, apparently to cool her down, as she pressed on with the challenge.

Zulaiha kicked off the cookathon at the Madina Zongo Astro Turf on June 1, 2026, drawing a crowd of supporters and family members who have been rallying behind her throughout the attempt.

To clinch the record, she must cook for approximately eight consecutive days without stopping, a feat that would see her complete all 192 hours.

In the spirit of the occasion, meals prepared during the cookathon have been distributed to supporters on the grounds, with some portions also delivered to school children in the Madina community.

If she succeeds, Chef Nhyiraba Zulaiha will join the growing number of Ghanaians who have pursued international recognition through Guinness World Record attempts, while putting Ghana's rich culinary heritage firmly in the global spotlight.
