Contractor in court for rape

Accra Oct. 20, GNA - A 51-year-old contractor accused of raping a 19 year-old girl to secure her a job on Monday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Kwame Zugah's plea was not taken and he is remanded into prison custody to reappear on November 3.

The court chaired by Mr Emmanuel Ankamah was told that the accused lived at Abeka in Accra whiles the victim travelled from Hohoe in the Volta Region three months ago to secure a job in Accra to enable her to continue her education.

Police Inspector Emmanuel Boison said the victim met the accused at Abeka and informed him about her predicaments.

On October 15, Zugah, who had promised to find her a job, called the victim on phone at about 1930 hour to come to his house so that he would send her to his friend, who had a job to offer her.

Inspector Boison said when the victim arrived at Zugah's house he led her into his room and asked the victim to pass the night with him. The victim obliged but at 1200 midnight, Zugah pounced on her and forcibly had sex with her.

The following day, the victim reported the matter to the Police and a medical form was issued to her and the accused was apprehended.
