Conference centre in a disastrous state

The Accra International Conference Centre The Accra International Conference Centre

Despite the huge sums of money that event organizers are charged to organize their event at the Accra International Conference Centre, it is disheartening to know that the chairs that are being used at the centre is in a deplorable state.

The Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) is perhaps the most popular event venue in Accra where prestigious events are held. With a sitting capacity of 1,800 people, the multi purpose conference centre has two halls, two committee halls accommodating 205 persons each and three meeting halls.

The centre which recently held the Vodaphone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) charges averagely GhS 36,000 per day. It is expected that an event venue such as the Accra International Conference Centre where prestigious events are held is always in good shape. Therefore, it is an eyesore to realise that for several months now, the chairs in the auditorium are in such a bad condition considering the prestige the centre has gained over the years and how important its existence has helped the industry.

This boils down to the issue of less event centres in Ghana which has been an age – long challenge for the entertainment industry.

In view of this, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in their 2016 manifesto promised to build a modern large seating theatres in every regional capital except Accra, beginning with Takoradi, Tamale and Kumasi to address the challenge the creative arts industry face due to lack of auditoriums and venues for entertainment events.

Razzonline.com is hereby appealing to the authorities in charge not to wait for a disaster to occur before a committee is set up to delve into the cloying state of the centre but should act now.
