Cobbler remanded for possessing stolen property

Elmina, July 12, GNA - Isaac Amoah, a cobbler from Cape Coast, was on Friday remanded by a magistrate's court at Elmina for possessing stolen property.

He pleaded not guilty and would be re-arraigned on Friday July 25. The prosecution told the court that on July 8 this year, at about 2300 hours, some persons returning from a church service, saw Amoah at Sybill a suburb of Elmina holding a sack.

The prosecution said upon suspicion the persons confronted Amoah and he told them that the sack contained his personal effects, but when it was opened, he could not explain how he came by a wall clock, a radio cassette recorder and half a bottle of perfume.

He was escorted to the police station and during interrogation, claimed he found the sack in a canoe at the beach, the prosecution added.
