Club Kaneshie- A New Night Club in Newark,

A dream becoming a reality

The office phone rang and it was the renowned DJ/Mastermixer, DJ E-love aka New York's finest and a cut above the rest. He called to touch base with me as usual concerning upcoming events and also informed me about a new hotspot/night club called, Club Kaneshie, a Ghanaian owned and operated entity on Bloomfied Avenue, Newark, New Jersey. We discussed visiting the spot one day and also mentioned he had been invited by the resident DJ, Lord Ahimsa, one of his partners to support him in an effort to promote the new night club.

Lord Ahimsa had apparently informed the Managing Director of the night Club, Kwasi Agyenim Boateng to invite Ghanaweb to the night club and so the necessary arrangements were made and on Friday, July 14th, Mr. CNN paid a visit to the night club to see for himself; what is now the latest hotspot/night club on the scene in the USA.

Club Kaneshie is huge and the walls are nicely decorated and painted with a tropical feel, coupled with fluorescent lights. The Bartender, Jeanie, of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent has a Bartenders quote which reads; "Come lose yourself in Newark's only tropical fluorescent night club, a touch of class and elegance with the feel of paradise".

Kwasi Agyenim Boateng is a realtor for Remax in New Jersey and when he was in Ghana, he loved to party all night all the time. When he moved to America, he never stopped "hanging out". He had dreamed of owning a night club where those who love to party like him would come and have a good time after working hard all week. There are some Ghanaian restaurants in the Newark area but he wanted to offer something unique with a touch of elegance. He decided to come up with Club Kaneshie. When Mr. CNN asked why he decided to name the spot, Club Kaneshie, he said he lived at Kaneshie and he loved it. Also he attributed Kaneshie to "kanee ase" in twi (under the light). Where there is light, there is freedom, success and enjoyment.

The evening was filled with many pretty ladies and couples. Adwoa Chiaa who came to the club with her friend also shared the same feeling that Club Kaneshie is huge, neat and a place for all to come and have a good time. Kumi of Irvington, New Jersey said; it was great to have such an elegant night club that everyone can come and enjoy themselves on their free time. Veteran Videographer, Atta of Atta Productions was also there relaxing and having a drink. He was happy that at least he now has a place like Club Kaneshie to spend most Friday evenings when he is not busy.

Analysis

Club Kaneshie is a beautiful place, geared to patrons over 21 years. The food is great, resident DJ, Lord Ahimsa on the wheels of steel provides excellent music and the service is exquisite. Security is provided to avoid any gate crashers and also make patrols feel safe. DJ-Elove who also visited that evening was happy with Club Kaneshie. He continued that all it needs is more advertising in the community.

Club Kaneshie is another Ghanaian entity and all are encouraged to patronize it. When one decides to invest in such a project, the project deserves the much needed support so it can be successful. When it becomes successful, it invests in the community by way of sponsorships. Kwasi Agyenim Boateng has taken a big risk but he knows in the end with hard work, Club Kaneshie will be the place to be.
