Urban gospel musician, Don D has sparked a controversy over the intake of alcohol by Christians
The musician told Prince Kwesi Dadzie aka Mr Handsome, host on the Away Bus show on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that, it is not a sin for pastor, reverend minister or any man of God to take in alcohol.
He was however quick to add that, although Christians are at liberty to take in alcohol, it should not be excessive.
He quizzed, "if a pastor after preaching comes home and feels distressed or unable to sleep and sips in wine or a little amount of alcohol in order for him to sleep, would you consider that as a sin?
He went on to justify his submission by suggesting that, the savior Jesus Christ took in alcohol while on earth and even provided bible quotations to support his position.
He quoted Luke 7: 34 ("the of man came eating and drinking, and u say, here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners) to state a strong case over his opinion.
He also quoted 1st Timothy 5:23 which also read: ‘’stop dinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illness.’’
These quotations are from the bible and so I cannot be wrong to make the point that that, taking a little wine or alcohol is not a sin, he added.
When asked if he know pastors that take in alcohol he answered in the affirmative but failed to disclose names on grounds that, he did not want to court backlash for them.
