Channel O Awards goes live!

The 2010 CHANNEL O MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS are going live for the first time in the history of the award ceremony. Airing live on DStv to music fans across the continent on the night of Thursday November 4 from the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa this year’s event will also feature the brilliant skills of Zwai Bala assisting the production team with musical direction on several performances.

“This is yet another great opportunity for me to showcase the celebrated creations of some of our beautiful continent’s young and great minds,” says the multi-award winning performer, artist, songwriter, producer and TKZee member.

“The awards are about celebrating Africa’s richness, diversity and cultural heritage through its very distinctive and proud export, Music and Rhythm. We all have a role to play. From the organizers to the voters. So Let’s Play!”

Voters are the key to deciding who wins the 14 categories that make-up the 2010 CHANNEL O MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS on Thursday November 4.

Already the main presenter has been revealed as side-splittingly funny comedian, Loyiso Gola, who will be supported by Channel O’s presenters – but for now the musical line-up is being kept under wraps.

Yolisa Phahle, Channel Director: Special Interests at M-Net says the decision to go live with the 2010 CHANNEL O MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS lets music fans from across the continent take part in the event as it unfolds.

“We are planning not only a fantastic night out for those who come to the Sandton Convention Centre – but also a television show that will bring the glitz, glamour and excitement of the awards right into the homes of Channel O viewers all over Africa.”

With nominees drawn from an extensive list of genres and countries around the continent, the 2010 CHANNEL O MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS promise an exciting blend of music and entertainment – confirming Channel O’s reputation as the Original African music channel.
