Centre for National Culture mounts arts exhibition at Asikuma

Breman Asikuma (C/R), June 17, GNA - The Centre for National Culture in collaboration with the Asikuma- Odoben- Brakwa District Assembly, has ended a day's Art and Craft Exhibition at Breman Asikuma to facilitate the marketing of the locally made products. The items displayed include wooden carvings, stools, linguist staff, doors, chairs, Kente cloths, baskets and jewellery boxes. The District Cultural Officer, Ms Salamatu Alhassan said the exhibition would nurture the tourist potentials in the district and promote wealth generation among the youth.

Ms Alhassan appealed to the government to support the artists and craftsmen in order to expand their businesses.

The Chief Carver, Mr David K. Buamah also appealed for assistance from the government and public-spirited individuals and organisations to support the artisans to tap their God-given talents, to generate employment and ensure the development of their communities. Nana Okoryaw Abonyin VI, who was the Chairman for the function commended the Centre for assisting the district assembly to organise the exhibition. He appealed to religious leaders not to deem the chieftaincy institution and other cultural values of the people as fetish.
