Burna Boy & Dr Sid @ Miss Malaika auditions

The much anticipated Miss Malaika Ghana auditions came off last Saturday 29th June at the studious of GHOne entertainment TV.

Hundreds of beautiful young ladies eager to take that bold step into prominence showed up for a shot at what has now become Ghana’s most prestigious beauty reality TV show.

Mixed feelings filled the atmosphere as the pretty young ladies displayed a myriad of moods; fear, anxiety, confusion, faith, confidence, poise and more. They twitched their fingers, walked about, and listened to music on various equipment, chatted on phone and with each other, all just to release tension and for some, to intimidate their fellow contestants.

The tautness of the moment reached a totally new level when the search panel; William Asiedu of The Mirror, Rodney Quarcoo of RQV photography and a former Malaika Queen, Ama Nettey (Miss Malaika 2010) arrived. Our ladies, now counting their seconds to prominence added final touches to their looks as their hearts pounded incessantly. And then the auditions begun;

The first round…this round was an initial meeting with the delegates where the panel basically looked out for beauty of face and figure and general appearance.

It was quick, tense, yet exciting. As some turned around sad and glum for not making it through, others even without knowing their fate burst into excitement as hit Nigerian R&B stars, Burna boy of ‘Let's Party’ fame and Dr Sid of ‘Pop Something’ fame out of nowhere suddenly appeared at the audition grounds. The tension suddenly disappeared.

Both musicians spent some time with the ladies, interacted with them, took pictures with them, signed autographs and wished them well. Burna Boy who couldn't leave the ladies and fans dropped a freestyle of his let's party track.

The ladies could not hold back their admiration as they sang along in joy. Burna Boy could not hold back his smile as he watched hundreds of beautiful women sing along to his song.

At the end of the audition, 106 young ladies made it through to the semifinal stage which is scheduled for the weekend starting Friday 5th to Sunday 7th July 2013 at the studios of GHOne.
