British Gospel Choir Shares Ideas In Ghana

The London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) led by Rev. Bazil Meade has held a gospel choral directing and singers workshop for choir conductors and directors at the British Council in Accra.

The workshop was an intensive course for choir conductors and directors who want to learn to direct a gospel choir and explore their gospel choral technique.

Speaking in an interview after the workshop, Rev. Bazil Meade said, ?I think we have made an impact but the proof of weather we really have been successful is how well the people here go back to their communities and churches and execute what they?ve learnt?.

Through the course, participants learnt how to assess choir voices and create a gospel repertoire working with lead singers.

?It has been wonderful?, the Choir Director of Miracle Vessels of Word Miracle Gospel Church, Charles Kofi Brakatu expressed his delight.

He said: ?I wish all leaders of present choir groups came around to learn more. I?ve learnt some choir styles and how to blend choir voices. I?ve also learnt how to work with numbers in a choir group?,

Most of the choir directors who participated in the workshop were moved by the unison and harmony in which the LCGC performed but ended up directing the group with new songs with their own part arrangements.

The LCGC is based in London but they were invited to Ghana by the British Council to take part in the anniversary of the 200 years after abolition of the slave trade.

LCGC is the first concert gospel choir in Britain. They are adaptable, flexible and create dynamic melodies with rich harmonies whether they are performing as an octet or a 30-strong choir. LCGC is known for their funky gospel flair, swing-beat, R&B, traditional and soulful arrangements, with invigorating choreography and vocal gymnastics.
