Ghanaian high life musician Dada Kwaku Dua popularly known as Dada K.D has accused the CEO of both the EIB Network and Empire Group of Companies, Nathan Kwabena Adisi aka Bola Ray of collapsing high life music in Ghana.
Dada K.D speaking with D.J Sly on Ark Fm’s Party Groove on Friday said Bola Ray has succeeded in killing high life music with his Ghana Meets Naija Concert.
“Pairing of Ghanaian hip-pop musicians against High life musicians from Nigeria is not the best at all. They will always beat their Ghanaian counterparts. Bola Ray doesn’t know what he is doing and he is killing high life,” he said.
Speaking about his MIA in the Ghanaian music scene, Dada K.D said: “I have been travelling and coming back into the country since 1997. I have executed the job and I’m yet to complete it totally. I’m still doing active music though I haven’t got enough time to play live shows in the country. I did a gospel music in 2011 which was followed by remixes of some of my songs. Ohemaa Nyarko Sika is also one of my latest tracks. “
Dada K.D disclosed that he was gifted with so many talents whilst growing up.
“I was a sprinter, I have done acrobatics and a lot of sporting activities. I gave up on all these after I was advised by someone who saw the musical talent in me. I listened to him and thanks be to God here I am today.
According to him he nearly dropped out of school after he was inspired to do music.
“When I realized that I have the voice to do music at form three (3) in Secondly School, I nearly stopped schooling,” he said, adding that: “Education is the key to everything. Academically I wasn’t bad.”
Dada K.D advised up and coming musicians to be humble and truthful in order to succeed in the music industry.
Commenting on the current trend of music in the country, Dada K.D said High Life is an African music of which he does not see himself to be an ‘Old School’ singer because of the new generational trend of music which is hip pop.
“I don’t want to be tagged as highlife musician. As a musician you have to be versatile. I can sing any genre of music. I’m a singer and I do anything presented on the table.”
Dada K.D revealed that he is celebrating his twenty (22) years in the music scene and he has twelve (12) albums to his credit.
He is currently promoting his nine (9) track album titled ‘Mayikoba’ which simply means pretty.
