Celebrated movie producer, Ahmed Banda, popularly known as Bandex has rubbished a request for state burial for late comedian and actor, Samuel Kwadwo Buabeng popularly known as Bob Okala.

The family of Okala in a letter to the government, requested for a state burial for the late comedian as a reward for his selfless contribution to the growth of comedy in Ghana and Africa in general .

Bishop Bob Okala who began his career in the 1990's as comedian with the concert party crew died on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Koforidua Regional Hospital after he collapsed while performing at the Koforidua Jackson Park at a show which was organized by the management of Joy Industries Limited, producers of Joy Dadi Bitters.

Reacting to the request by the family on Atinka FM Showbiz hosted by Odeefuo Saturday, Bandex said the family should have rather requested for "a state health care" for the one time best comedian instead of requesting for state burial now.

He therefore asked the government to reject the request, adding that the request should not be granted on the basis of Okala's affiliation to the NDC.

Rex Annan, who was also on the show added, “looking at people who have been accorded state burial in recent times like Professor Atta Mills, Komla Dumor, Kofi Ansa, then Bob Okala does not deserve a state burial."
