Big Akwes lands cheers condom advert deal

Kumawood actor Christian Akwesi Asamoah popularly known as Big Akwes who purportedly got sidelined for his ‘medwam’ comment on RTV has used the same term in a new condom advert.

It would be recalled that some months ago, the controversial actor said on RTV’s ‘Anigyefie’ hosted by Papa Kumasi that most movie producers demand sex from female actors before casting them in their movies.

The statement that brought him hatred and earned him the ‘madwam’ accolade has given him a new job, which he claims is a nice experience.

“I support good brands so when the producers of Cheers Condom approached me, I gleefully accepted the job,” he said.

Big Akwes threw more light on how good the condom was, elaborating the elasticity and the different flavors the condom comes with and he also emphasized that, he had personally used the product and he is really happy with it and therefore recommends it for all Ghanaians.

He cited at one point in time he used a certain brand of condom that later gave him a bad reaction but he can confirm that Cheers Condom is the best condom.

Asked whether he will be bothered about any future reactions from the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), he emphatically said that, FIPAG will be happy with the advert and even push them to buy cheers condom and try it.

He however hinted that he did not charge for the advert he did. According to him, he only wanted to plug a good product. That’s all.

As to whether his colleague actor Wayoosi who acted in the same advert also did it for free, he said he was not in a better position to speak for him.

Could it really be true that he didn’t charge for the job or he was just trying to be evasive about what he earned from it? Anyway, it appears what looked as a stigma on Big Akwes is turning into positivity.

He made this statement in an interview on AM Pluzz with Sammy Flex on Pluzz fm
