Being a feminist doesn't mean you should be disrespectful - Martha Ankomah

In the rage of recent outcry by some women with respect to the fight for equality in society, especially in marriages, renowned Ghanaian screen goddess, Martha Ankomah has added her voice to the issue.

In an interview with Ghanaweb's Bernice Owusuwaa on 'Showbiz Trendz', the actress disclosed her views on the issue, stating that, feminism doesn't mean disrespect, to her, "being a feminist doesn't mean you shouldn't respect your husband".

She added that being a feminist definitely is "to stand for your rights" and what you know is right, she claimed that people lacked understanding of the concept of feminism thus the diverse views on what feminists actually stand for.

Martha Ankomah, has not lost grounds since 2009 when she struck Ghanaians with her role in the movie "Heart of men".

She has since moved to build and maintain a reputation as one of Ghana's sweethearts in the movie industry.

She has indeed gained roots and admiration in the movie industry and among Ghanaians particularly because of her composure and decency.

Even though Martha isn't yet married, she sure gave some good relationship advice, to her having a good relationship is "basically about communication, how we communicate with our partners...you can't talk to your husband anyhow and think because you're a woman you're right, no. There's nothing wrong with cooking for your husband."
