BECE invigilator sacked for drunkenness

Ataase-Nkwanta (Ash), April 19, GNA-Mr Paul Bona, an invigilator at the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE), at the Ataase-Nkwanta D/A Junior Secondary School centre in the Adansi South district, has been sacked, for alleged excessive drunkenness and lateness.

The supervisor, Mr Charles Anokye, told the GNA at Ataase-Nkwanta that he sacked the invigilator because he reported to duty at 10.30 am on Tuesday instead of reporting before 9am and he also reported fervently drunk.

Mr Anokye said he had reported the conduct of the invigilator to the District Director of Education, Mr Joseph K. Onyina, who visited the centre early in the morning.

The supervisor said the District Director promised to summon Mr Bona before the district education disciplinary committee to answer questions about his behaviour.

Mr Anokye said even though 283 candidates were expected to write the examinations at the centre, two pregnant candidates were absent.
