BBnZ opens Afro-Beats festival

The Big weekend Afro-Beats Festival, with Accra Breweries Limited (ABL) as headline sponsor, would bring together 30 top artistes and music groups from Ghana and across Africa for the concert while guests get an opportunity to get personal with them.

ABL would also be giving out its products to guests at factory price while musicians including D-Black, E.L, BankyW, Shatta Wale, Kaakie, Gemini, Guru, Castro, Samini, Abrantie Amakye Dede and several others put up their best performances.

“The whole idea is to re-brand Ghana as a country that has the capacity to host world class events and a country that is a hot tourist destination in the West African region,” a statement from organizers said.

Kwame Blay, director of BBnZ Live explained at the event’s press launch that “though the main concert would come off at the Independence Square on Saturday December 14 where top musicians from Ghana and beyond would perform on one spectacular stage, the event actually starts on Friday December 13, a day on which miniature parties would be held simultaneously across 10 locations including Honey suckle, Shaka Zulu, Rhapsody’s, Champs Bar& Grill, C Longue, Polo Club, +233 Jazz Club, Best Western Premier Hotel, Devino DnD and the La Pleasure Beach.”

Sunday December 15, would be used as a family fun and fanfare day. Mr. Blay added that apart from the musicians, some of the country’s best club DJs would be taking charge of the Big Weekend party at night clubs across Ghana.

Marketing Manager of ABL, James Boakye Sarfo, speaking at the launch described ‘The Big Weekend Afro-Beats Festival’ as a historic entertainment festival in Ghana and said as headline sponsors, ABL considers it a delight to associate with such an event.

“I am not too old but I have seen many music festivals in many countries and in Ghana. What I have not seen is one big party in the form of a three-day music and beer festival spread across 10 locations and I consider this historic and I am happy Accra Breweries Limited is collaborating with BBnZ to make this history,” Mr. James Sarfo noted.

He paid glowing tributes to the late Nigerian music legend, Fela Anikulakpo Kuti for originating afro-beats music and said ABL would continue to support entertainment events in Ghana.
