The latest to speak on the growing trend of Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures among young Ghanaian women is gospel musician Jayana.
According to Jayana, people should be allowed to make decisions about their bodies because undergoing cosmetic surgery would not be an issue before God on Judgment Day, as individuals would ultimately be judged by their souls and not their bodies.
In an interview with Nana Romeo, the gospel musician explained that by the time Judgment Day comes, some people who have undergone cosmetic surgery may have died and their bodies may have decayed. Therefore, she believes their physical bodies would not be what God judges.
“On Judgment Day, your body would have decayed, so it cannot be judged for undergoing cosmetic surgery. We all do not know when Judgment Day will come. The Bible says the trumpet will be blown, and it is the soul that will be resurrected to Heaven; the body is not part of that. On the day of judgment, the body will not be judged; it is the soul that will be judged,” she said.
Jayana further argued that the intention behind undergoing cosmetic surgery should also be considered.
She said she would have no problem with such procedures if they are done for a genuine reason, particularly for health purposes, rather than to attract attention for promiscuous reasons.
“Provided whatever you are doing, the intention behind it is what, for me personally, matters. If you are doing it for a just cause, then it’s okay because of the intention. But if you are doing it because you want to attract attention, for promiscuous reasons, then, for me, I will say no. But if you feel you have to do it for a particular health reason, then it’s good,” she explained.
