“Azonto is good but...”- Okyeame Kwame

Ghana’s rap Doctor, Okyeame Kwame has added his voice to commend the advent of the new craze from Ghana which has taken over the entire world by storm, “The Azonto craze”. Azonto, a dance which originated from Ghana has shown so much prospects throughout the world with its accompanying music attracting the attention of so many high profiled personalities.

Talking to NY DJ on Homestretch (Drive Time) on Kapital Radio, Okyeame Kwame who distances himself from condemning the new craze said, “Since I gained consciousness, Azonto dance and the music that accompanies it is one rhythm that has come to bring attention to Ghana and its really good but I think most of the accompanying songs lack creativity”.

Most songs in the system which now receive rotations are due to ingenuity of the producers who create fast tempo beats that make it easy for musicians to lay simple and nonconstructive verses on them.

Talking on the way forward an suggestion to make the Azonto a far better rhythm, the rap Doctor who’s aim is to heal the industry with his “Clinic” album said ” We must take the rhythm and instead of placing one chord on it, we must place the right progressions and sing the right harmonies. There is the need to improve because should we improve and give it the right sound, music and melodies, Ghana will not fight our music going international anymore”.

Okyeame Kwame is currently on a tour promoting his latest singles, “Sika” and “Odo Wohe”.
