Attafuah Worried Over Information Leakage

The Executive Secretary of the NRC is worried over how matters they discussed at meetings quickly gets to public domain. He mentioned the case involving TSIKATA and JJ . He said they have decided to subpoena TSIKATA to compell him to appear before commission without fail. Information from the NRC indicates that TSIKATA will appear on the 9th February 2004 (Monday) and JJ 10th February 2004 (Tuesday). The Executive Secretary was expected to grant an interview to BBC correspondent in Accra yesterday but he cancelled the appointment .GTV planned to have him on their programme Breakfast show Friday but could not be reached.

Ken Agyemang Attafuah, the Executive Secretary of the NRC, said the Commission had subpoenaed Capt Tsikata to give evidence in respect of a document Mrs Jemima Acquah, a witness, presented to the commission. The document, which was on the trial of the three high court judges and the retired army major, had mentioned that persons which the Public Tribunals tried and subsequently executed had mentioned Capt Tsikata, and former President Jerry John Rawlings as being involved in the conspiracy.

In an interview with a jounalist he explained why TSIKATA and JJ have to be subpoena but not ordinary invitation. He also stated that they are yet to serve JJs "LETTER OF INVITE". However the general public is of the view that the NRC is not prepared to give out the date JJ will appear because of security concerns.
