Asante-Akim North hosts inter-district cultural festival

Konongo (Ash), July 22, GNA - An inter-district zonal cultural festival for second cycle schools has been held at Konongo with a reminder to the youth to take pride in the nation's cultural heritage.

Mr Thomas Osei-Bonsu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said they should cherish the rich traditions and cultural values.

The festival was organized by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and brought together schools drawn from Ejisu-Juaben, Sekyere East, Bosomtwe, Atwima-Kwawoma, Asante-Akim North and Asante-Akim South.

They put up performances in drum language, drumming and dancing, choral music, drama, poetry recital and singing.

It was on the theme: "Ensuring peace and unity in a sustainable society through culture."

M Osei-Bonsu praised the GES for incorporating culture in the training of school children.

He said the exposure of the children to the culture and traditions of the various ethnic groups would encourage mutual respect and promote national unity and cohesion.
