He has revealed that he still misses his close friend, Castro, who disappeared almost three years ago while on a weekend getaway with him and is hanging on to a faint hope that the musician is alive.

Asamoah Gyan who was accused of killing Castro as part of a ritual sacrifice but described the claims as "wild and absurd", over the weekend performed songs by the singer cum rapper including those he collaborated with him.

From ‘Me Ntumi’ which featured highlife artiste, Kwabena Kwabena to ‘Odo’ which featured Kofi Kinaata and Gyan, the Black Stars skipper gave a stunning performance at The Gold Coast Restaurant & Cocktail Bar when he celebrated his 50th goal for the national team.

The 31-year-old also performed Buju Banton’s hit song, ‘Destiny’ which was released in 1997.

He scored his 50th goal for the national team during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Walias of Ethiopia at Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Sunday, making him Ghana’s all-time top scorer.

Gyan in an interview on Citi FM revealed that he has not been able to release any new music because of Castro’s disappearance.

"I still do music but since my friend got lost, Castro. I decided to just lay back a bit. We had a lot of hit songs that were coming out before the incident happened," Gyan said.

Known in real life as Theophilus Tagoe, Castro went missing, along with friend Janet Bandu, on July 6, 2014. They disappeared while using jet skis on holiday with Gyan's family at Ada.

Castro, who hails from Takoradi, was born in 1982 to Lydia Tagoe, a trader, and Mr Coffie, an accountant, at the Takoradi Harbour.
