Apam (C/R), June 27, - The chief fisherman-elect of Apam, Nana Kwesi Eyi, has given owners of unserviceable canoes and boats up to Tuesday, July one to remove them from the Apam beach or they wo Nana Eyi said the decision is one of the steps his administration is taking to ease congestion at the beach. The chief fisherman-elect was addressing fishermen and officials of the Ghana National Fire Service yesterday after the two groups had helped to retrieve fishing nets worth more than 40 million About six canoes were destroyed by the rains. Nana Eyi commended the Gomoa District Chief Executive, Mr Kow Anyanful who led the exercise and the district fire officer, Mr S.O. Mensah, for responding promptly to the call of the victims. Mr Anyanful lauded the team of fire servicemen from Gomoa and Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam for their dedication to duty. He appealed to the insurance agencies in the country to initiate insurance policy for fishermen against such disasters.
