Ambition, filial piety and love intersect in a Ghanaian film

Directors, T.W. Pittman and Kelly Daniela Norris, join us to talk about their film, “Nakom” which takes place in Ghana and is performed completely in the Kusaal language.

It tells the story of a young medical student, Iddrisu, who must leave his life in the city to return to his home village of Nakom when he learns that his father has died.

Iddrisu must take on his father’s responsibility as head of the household, and choose between his medical career or a farmer’s life in the village.

“Nakom” makes its North American debut at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's New Directors/New Films Festival on March 18th and March 19th.
