Al Jazeera’s Africa Investigates exposes illegal Chinese gold mining in Ghana

In Wednesday’s episode of Africa Investigates, Ghana’s legendary undercover reporter Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposes illegal Chinese alluvial gold mining in Ghana.

Premiering on 30 November 2011, China’s African Gold is the story of how illegal Chinese alluvial gold mining in West Africa has grown to industrial levels of extraction. Even Ghana, a leading African state, is incapable of stopping the robbery of its most valuable mineral.

Anas shows these illegal Chinese operations in action, how the quest for riches is to the detriment of people along the rivers Pra and Ankobra, and how the government’s best efforts to thwart this illegal trade have been blocked by corrupt Ghanaian officials.
