Aggie Tuffour Delivers A Sensational Gospel Album

She has the soul of an angel and the tenacious spirit of a phenom in the making.? Her unwavering determination and angelic disposition are showcased in “Adom ara kwa”, her debut album, launched in Amsterdam.

If you’re wondering who we are referring to - the name is Aggie Tuffour and she is not a stranger to the Gospel music industry. After her debut album ‘Fidie No Abubu’, a ‘AggieMay Sisters’ project, collaboration with Mayfair Owusu in the mid 90’s, a well-received cut in those days, Aggie is now out on the solo.

Born and bred in Kumasi, Ghana, Aggie has been residing in Amsterdam for a couple of years now. An alumna of Kumasi Academy Secondary School, who has never lost her passion in singing the gospel since childhood, is out with a sensational 9-track gospel album in her adulthood.

This 9-track ‘Adom Arakwa’ effort is a colorful conglomeration of neo-reggae, and highlife styles fused with relevant lyrics that address the totality of experiences in life. No matter the subject, the album is bathed in an evident of God’s love on which Aggie freely expresses her feelings on several aspects of life.

In a vivid harmonious technique she declares God’s never-failing promises. Aggie’s versatile voice, which captures different styles of music, gracefully ensures its smoothness on ‘No Mountain Too High’ a well-arranged reggae number, which will cause for repeat hit on the knob.

‘Ebe Ye Yie’ an encouraging and genuine emotion translated so skillfully in song is breathtaking mid-tempo reggae. ‘Boa Me’ the fourth track is a classic highlife tune which creates the need of balance in the repertoire on the Album. ‘Mema Mani So’ track six, a duet with Mrs. Edna Sarpong a member of one of Ghana’s renowned gospel groups ‘Daughters of Glorious Jesus’ is a real motivating soft-soulful track which stands out awesomely.

By grace Edna’s touch on this project simply proves why her group won six awards at the 2003/2004 Ghana Music Awards. With a contemporary sound that embodies spiritual heart of Gospel, Aggie Tuffour wraps her mellow voice around a lyrical content that is at times bold, and at times sweet, though ubiquitously laced with the love of God.

Track 3, No Mountain Too High is an ode to Aggies's personal testimony for her love of Christ, substantiated by the heartfelt expressions of her soul. Another astounding piece ‘Nyame Nhyira is a beautiful 6/8 timed piece that makes this project an inspiring musical experience.
