Afro-Beats Festival 2014: confirmed for December

Entertainment and events company, BBnZ, has announced that all is set for the ‘Big Weekend Afro-Beats Festival’ 2014 edition and would be announcing the fine details of the show at a news conference in a matter of days.

Meanwhile the Independence Square in Accra has already been booked for the three-day festival of music and beer from December 12 to 14 and would bring together some of Ghana’s finest musicians and major international acts.

The event was first held in December 2013 as a historic entertainment festival to re-brand Ghana as a country that has the capacity to host world class events and a country that is a hot tourist destination in the West African sub-region.

This year’s event is expected to be an improvement on the maiden edition and is scheduled to take off on Friday, December 12 with a Hip-hop-themed concert, followed by an actual Afro-beats party on Saturday, December 13 and on Sunday, December 14, a mellowed-down Acoustic event will take place.

Efya, Stonebwoy, Chase, Mzvee, Okyeame Kwame, Joey-B, Lil Shaker, Treasure, DJ Mic Smith, Kumasi Kojo-Cue, Jay-So, E.L and a tall list of musicians have been confirmed for the three-day festival and interestingly organisers are charging only GH¢10 as gate fee.

Title sponsor, Accra Brewery Limited (ABL), at the launch last year paid glowing tributes to the late Nigerian music legend, Fela Anikulakpo Kuti, for being the brain behind afro-beats music and said ABL would continue to support entertainment events in Ghana.
