UK-based Nigerian entertainment personality Adesope Olajide has celebrated Ghanaian music duo R2Bees, who are experiencing a renaissance as their 2017 hit single Over has climbed to the top of the Afrobeats Official Chart in the United Kingdom nearly a decade after it was first released.

The resurgence has been driven by a wave of TikTok trends sparked by young teenagers in December 2025, whose viral videos catapulted the beloved record back onto dance floors and into the charts.

Adesope, in a video shared on Instagram, celebrated the feat, describing R2Bees as icons deeply woven into the fabric of Afrobeats’ global success story.

“Let's say congratulations to the legendary duo R2Bees… What this has done just continues to show that good music does not have any expiration date. Yes, it was a success back then, but something again has brought it back to the fore, gathering over 300,000 streams on Spotify every single day,” he said.

Olajide drew a parallel with Nigerian artiste Skales, whose 2014 hit Shake Body enjoyed a similar viral revival in 2025, earning the singer over 70 live shows, a renewed album deal, and a lucrative distribution contract.

“This has the potential to do the same thing for R2Bees, an iconic legendary band from Ghana who are engrained into Afrobeats’ DNA success of the last 15–16 years, not only in Ghana but particularly in Europe and the United Kingdom, enjoying a renaissance like they have never, ever seen before,” he added.

Adesope also used the moment to issue a direct call to the duo to announce a UK date for a show.

"You guys are iconic, legendary. We celebrate you, we salute you. Congratulations on this incredible feat. We need a date in the UK," he said.
