Accra Poly Girl Is Exopa Queen

At about 1am on April Fools’ Day, Sunday April 1, Rosemond Koufie, a 23-year-old HND Marketing student of Accra Polytechnic, was crowned winner of the March 2012 edition of the Exopa New Faces contest which came off at the Exopa Burg Saturday night.

The beautiful, sexy and talented young lady, who loves playing basket ball, swimming, dancing and modelling, is the first Ghanaian girl to have won the contest this year. Previous winners in the last two months were Jamaican Makedah and Dutch model Michelle Dekker.

Rosemond’s deserving performance brought Ghana back on the winning list several months after other nationals had been at the forefront.

Her exuberance and confidence, fused with her versatility in the catwalk and dance categories, won the judges over.

Twenty-two- year-old Ivy Amoako of the African University College of Communication (AUCC) and 19-year-old Linguistic student of the University of Ghana, Leticia Tawiah from Saltpond, took the first and second runners-up respectively.

The contest was so keen that at the end of the day, there was a tie over who should be the second runner-up. Consequently, Rosemond and Leticia were called back on state to slug it out to determine who should be selected for the final top three.

Even after that, there was still a tie. The judges and organizers of the event therefore agreed that the audience should be allowed to decide on either Rosemond or Leticia and that seemed easy for them as they overwhelmingly voted for Leticia.

This month’s event came with exciting performances from upcoming musicians including Black Kat, Modulo and DM.

The show was also to give upcoming musicians a platform to show their worth.

Model-turned-emcee Zion was once again the emcee for the night.

As part of her prize package for winning the contest, Rosemond gets a two-year contract with Exopa, both at home and abroad, a cash price, a promotional package as well as other souvenirs.

The winners will also make appearances on Allo Tigo on Metro TV and get some exposure in NEWS-ONE.

The Exopa New Faces contest is organised by Exopa and supported by NEWS-ONE and Allo Tigo.

It is held every last Saturday of every month at the Exopa Burg, behind the Accra International Trade Fair Centre, from 9pm.

The event is going on break until June, when Exopa re-strategizes.
