The Diamond Pub and Grill spot, owned by Shatta Michy is on the verge of being taken down after the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) earmarked it for demolition.

Shatta Michy, who is the wife of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, erupted the facility at East Legon earlier this year and has been operating for some time.

However, some months ago it was revealed that the pub was situated in the Green Belt Zone which had been earmarked by the AMA for demolition.

The Graphic Online reports that there was controversy at the location last Thursday after a task force from the AMA evaded the place to demolish some structures, of which the Diamond Pub and Grill was part of.

The task force had reportedly taken down a host of structures believed to be lying within the East Legon Green Belt Zone, with Shatta Michy’s pub the next in line. However, they were unable to demolish her structure after she pleaded for more time.

According to the Graphic Online, the AMA task force then disconnected the pub from the electricity grid and seized her electricity meter, before issuing a one-week ultimatum for her to pack out for the structure to be demolished.

The demolition is in line with a move being spearheaded by the Chief Executive of AMA, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, to have all encroachers on the Legon Green Belt Zone removed. Meanwhile, Ghanaians have been expressing mixed views on the closure of Shatta Michy's pub.
