Rapper and actor 50 Cent recently touched on whether he’s open to getting married and named the artists he’d ask to perform at his wedding ceremony if that happened.
50 Cent, born Curtis James Jackson III, touched on the topic of marriage during an appearance on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle on October 9.
The topic came up when one of the hosts talked about the In Da Club rapper performing for free at NBA star Tyrese Haliburton’s wedding. 50 Cent explained that he was actually invited to the wedding as a guest, and he was initially supposed to help Haliburton get a different person to perform. He said he ultimately decided to grace the stage after they were unable to get someone.
When the 51-year-old was then asked if he thought he’d ever get married, he said, “The most successful people that I know, when you ask them when they took their biggest losses, it’s in one column in Forbes. It says, ‘Married and Divorced.’”
50 Cent, who has never been married, subsequently confirmed that he’s “not looking forward” to tying the knot.
The Street Fighter star, however, explained that marriage “only makes sense when it’s honored in God’s eyes.”
He added: “If the person is religious and has that, you know, as a driving source to maybe end up doing it.”
Despite making his feelings about marriage known, 50 Cent was asked who he’d like to perform at his wedding if he ever had a change of mind. He mentioned fellow rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West.
“Kanye too. I’ll have him, Kanye, if he’s not banned. If he’s not banned at the time, he’ll be there,” he said.
Though 50 Cent is currently single, he said he’s open to finding love. “I like to have fun,” he said.
He also explained why he feels “friendship is the strongest form of a relationship.”
“When you become friends with someone and then it becomes a necessity for you,” he added. “I think we give away the title ‘friend’ too easy to some people because if they don’t have your best interests at heart then they’re not necessarily your friend. It could be someone you know, an acquaintance, but you’re not necessarily friends”
The award-winning rapper said he feels that divorce is so rampant because couples “forget to be friends.”
